Basil Flowers and Unknown Flower

Basil Flower.

Coriander Flowers

Ever seen coriander flowers?

Do you know that they are so tiny but very pretty?

Here is a little bit close-up photo.

And this is the best close-up photo I can take.
See how beautiful they are?

If my cake mojo ever came back, I will make sugar flower version of them.
But maybe not as tiny.

Thanks for looking (^_^)

My Echeveria Black Prince Succulents

I got these as a bundle purchase from a private grower
who sells me Sensevieria 'Mother-In-Law's Tongue' Succulents.

It is Winter here, they don't look that good.

They came with flowers but they already dried,
with LOTS of leaves underneath the flowers.

I cut them and now I am waiting for new growth.
We'll see if I succeeded.

And these little black prince pups are from my good friend.

Thanks for looking (^_^)

Aeonium Arboreum Schwarzkopf

In May, we went to a private grower and I got these beautiful Short Black succulents.

It might look like a single plant, but it is
actually has few pups underneath it.

Photo taken 23.May.2016

I also got this from the Seller.
It was quite small when I bought it,
look at it now, it is growing.

See the difference between the first time I planted it
and the day I took this photo.
It has been settling really well.

Thank you for looking (^_^)

Rare Greenovia Aurea Succulent and Great Succulent Packing

Photo from the Seller.

It look like roses. The Seller took this photo last summer.
They are winter growers requiring little water through the warmer months.
In summer the rosettes close tightly and the outer leaves dry out.

This is the shape that attracts me.
Just gorgeous!

My Greenovia arrived yesterday, it was very well packaged.

This is what it looked like when I opened the little box.

I removed the top paper towel.

This is the plant.
See the shape?
Scroll drown.

The plant "sat" on this newspaper "circle".

I opened the paper towel,
this is the plant.
See how they cover the root?
Brilliant!

I opened it and can see a little soil in it.
Which is what I want.

Trying to grow succulents from cuttings takes time,
and some cuttings died on me,
plus I don't have the patient for it.

See the rosettes?

It is quite expensive for such a small plant.
But it is worth every cent!

I love it!

Thanks for looking (^_^)

E Van Breen Unusual Succulent

So after the Seller sent me  wrong succulents,
she finally sent me the correct ones.

They are Echeveria Van Breen.

Colour varies from blue-ish to pale green with red-ish edges seasonally.
Rosettes grow to about 12 cm wide and up to 10 cm in height.

Propagates from offsets.
Need half strength fertilizer every 6 months.

I rotated the photo, but it seems it won't rotate once I put it on here.

Thanks for looking (^_^)

Tulips - Tulipa Hybrida 6.June.2016

Botanical name: Tulipa Hybrida

Fertilising: To get the best out of your bulbs, you can use well-rotted animal manure or a complete plant food.  Dig it through the soil before planting.  Soil must be well drained and enriched with organic matter.  After flowering has finished (this is the best time to feed your bulbs), apply a light amount of blood and bone or complete plant food.

Tips: Plant in cool weather (late April to end of June), if required place bulbs in the crisper for 4-6 weeks before planting.  Double, Darwin and Triumph Tulips flower earlier than Single Late and Parrot varieties.  If using as cut flowers choose blooms that are not fully open, cut them early in the morning and change vase water frequently.  They like some protection from the wind.

Pot/Container Growing: To grow in pots use a quality Australian standards potting mix for bulbs and select a well-drained pot.  Mix some slow release fertiliser through your potting mix if not already done by the manufacturer.  Plant the bulbs so they are covered by 2.5 cm - 3 cm of soil above their tips.  Allow for the potting mix to settle after it is watered so have a bit more mix above the bulbs to allow for this.  Remember, bulbs don't mind being a bit crowded and a full pot will look best.  Water the pot well after planting.

Lifting and Storage: Tulips should be lifted each year.  You should do this after the foliage has turned yellow.  Allow the bulbs to dry out, out of the sun, and then store them in a cool, dry and airy position.

Plant in cool weather (late April to end of June), and place bulbs in the fridge crisper for 4-8 weeks before planting.

Caution: Harmful if eaten/skin and eye irritant

Plant: Autumn to Winter
Flower: Spring
15 cm below the soil.
60 cm above the soil.
Plant them 12 cm apart.
Need full sun.
Perfect for pots.

Ranunculus - Ranunculus Asiaticus

Botanical Name: Ranunculus Asiaticus

Family: Ranunculaceae

One Ranunculi corm can produce more than 20 flowers.
To keep blooms coming for a longer period, regularly cut off any dead and dying blooms.

These little bulbs will keep your garden and house in flowers for many weeks.

Watering:  Water well after planting; soak weekly until shoots appear, then only to supplement rainfall.  Prefer a well-drained soil.

Pest & Disease: bait snails when buds appear.  Mildew can be a problem in autumn.

Lifting and Storage: best treated as annual or bi-annuals and new bulbs replanted every 1 to 2 years.

Tip: plant with claws facing downwards.  To kick-start the growing process soak the bulbs in a bowl of water for around an hour before planting.  To ensure success with outdoor planting, start in trays of seed raising mix.  Keep moist in a cool position.  Transplant 3-4 weeks after sprouting.

5 cm below the soil.
50 cm above the soil/height.
Plant: Autumn-Winter.
Flower: Spring.
Full Sun.
15 cm apart.
Perfect for pots.
